Athletics
The Schechter Bergen Physical Education & Athletics program provides a rewarding and enriching experience for all students, helping them develop their athletic potential while fostering a love of lifelong physical fitness. Our program reflects our commitment to the social-emotional and physical well-being of every child. Through our curriculum, students are encouraged to demonstrate positive sportsmanship, integrity, strong values, ethics, and derekh eretz - both on and off the field.
Students from Gan 3s through eighth grade participate in a comprehensive physical and health education curriculum. Our fitness program promotes lifelong physical fitness and is supported through engaging activities, fitness games, and skill-based sports lessons designed to be both fun and developmentally appropriate. These experiences help students build confidence, improve their overall fitness, and learn important life lessons through effort, practice, and perseverance.
Beginning in fifth grade, students are eligible for Schechter Bergen’s after-school athletics program, which currently offers girls’ volleyball, boys’ intramural flag football, boys’ and girls’ basketball, boys’ and girls’ indoor soccer, and boys’ and girls’ track & Field
At Schechter Bergen, our success is not defined by wins or losses, but by the dedication, effort, and resilience our athletes and coaches bring to every game. We value the courage to try, the lessons learned from mistakes, and the growth that comes from overcoming challenges - always playing with heart, honor, and respect.
